EHI Elects New Chairman and Vice-Chairman

Brussels – EHI, the Association of the European Heating Industry, is very pleased to announce the election of Ulrich Schmidt, Member of the Managing Board of Bosch Thermotechnology, as new EHI Chairman, and Ettore Riello, Chairman and CEO of Riello Group, as EHI Vice-Chairman.

Ulrich Schmidt has almost two decades of experience in the thermotechnology business. Immediately after graduating in 1992 as a mechanical engineer, he started his career with Bosch in the Thermotechnology Division at Wernau/Germany. After a Manufacturing Trainee Programme he was Head of Final Assembly and after that Head of the Production Logistics department. From 1999 until 2003, he gathered international experience, being responsible for the Bosch Thermotechnology plant in Manisa/Turkey. In 2003, he moved to another Bosch division and was heading the global Assembly Systems and Special Machinery unit. As of 1 April 2009, Schmidt returned to the Thermotechnology Division as a member of the Managing Board. “I take on the Chairman’s task with full commitment and enthusiasm for the mission of EHI. I am aware of the association’s importance as the umbrella organisation for our industry and would like to emphasise the necessity to act in a united manner in representing our shared interests” stated Schmidt, on the occasion of his election during EHI’s General Assembly in Paris on 8 June 2011.

Ettore Riello joined the family’s Riello Group in 1982, working in the management control area, and worked up to become CEO of the Riello Group Holding and the companies belonging to the Group. In March 2000, following a reorganisation of the Group, Ettore Riello became Chairman of the newly created Riello SpA. He has been a member of the General Confederation of Italian Industry Committee since 2003, as well as a member of the Assonime Committee (Association of Italian Joint-Stock Companies) since May 2006. Ettore Riello is on the Board of Directors of Palladio Finanziaria and Banca Generali. From 2006 to 2008 he was Chairman of ANIMA, the Federation within the General Confederation of Italian Industry which unites and represents the main companies operating in the mechanical sector. Today, Ettore Riello is Chairman and CEO of one of the leading companies in both Italy and around the world in the fields of domestic and residential heating, air conditioning, combustion and cogeneration technology with a particular attention to renewable energies.

Ulrich Schmidt and Ettore Riello will hold the positions of Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively until the June 2012 EHI General Assembly in Istanbul, Turkey.
