What is EHI?
The association of European Heating Industry was founded on 11 June 2002.
It is the result of the merger of the former CEB, EBA, and AFECI, having a history back into the 1960s.
It brings together the manufacturers of and associations dealing with hot-water heating boilers, burners, water heaters, components.
What does it do?
EHI deals with the needs of the heating market from the point of view of industry. Its scope includes: the European regulatory framework, its implementation, and global aspects relating to the industry.
What are its goals?
- promote efficient environmentally friendly heating and hot water systems
- encourage the exchange of information and experience amongst the members
- represent the members interests towards European, national and worldwide bodies relevant
- to the industry
- position EHI as key player to EU regulators co-operation with associations in similar fields
How does it work?
EHI acts as a forum for the exchange of views, working by consensus, co-operating towards the regulatory framework (European Directives, standards, codes of practice, guidelines, reports ...).

EHI liases with national and international regulatory, political, and technical bodies, including the European Commission, the European Parliament, European Regulatory Authorities and others.
EHI also aims at establishing links with similar associations worldwide.
EHI maintains consultative contacts with several other industry associations
As new regulations and standards are developed, EHI seeks to influence such regulatory bodies to ensure that the best interests of its members and the industry are met, in line with the goals of EHI.
Who can join EHI?
EHI membership is open to all sectors of industry involved with the European Heating Industry.
Its members are:
- companies with at least one production site in Europe and operating organisations in at least four European countries
- European national associations of manufacturers of hot-water heating boilers, burners, water heaters, components,...
- Related trade associations from Europe may become associate members
